Last night I went out for sushi and drinks with a few of my favorite gal pals Sandy and Karen.
During dinner, Sandy asked me how to rid of dark circles around your eyes.
“Oh cucumbers” I said without thinking. But after I answered Sandy’s question, I thought to myself there must be another way to get rid of bags- dark circles around the eyes.
After I left Shi restaurant-lounge in Long Island City, I searched and read an extensive number of articles, blogs and reviews on how to get rid of dark circles. Below are list of products-homemade recipes on how to get rid of raccoon eyes.
Drink plenty of water
Dark circles are caused by dehydration, so it’s best to avoid coffee and alcohol (well just a little bit hahaha).
Robin’s Note: Also avoid salty foods and crying, salt can draw water to your face and cause it to collect under the your eyes.
Put cold cucumbers under your eyes. If you don’t have cucumbers, wet a few teabags and chill them in the freezer or refrigerator before placing them over your eyes.
Robin’s Note: Put the cucumber in the refrigerator before placing them over your eyes. Best teabags to use are chamomile or peppermint.
Change your eating habits
Cocktails and salty foods are fine, once in a while. But don’t make a habit of it, how you treat your body on the inside will show on the outside; including dark circles.
Use sunscreen everyday
The sun’s rays can cause the thin skin around your eyes to become even more fragile.
Robin’s Note: I read that some people use eye cream, but it’s not for me. If you are interested please avoid using ingredients like retinoids, alpha hydroxyl acids and vitamin C; they can irritate the sensitive skin around the eyes.
Make sure the skin around the eyes is “moist” before you go to sleep.
It’s short term but it works.
